Your first dictation

1. Click into any text field: a message, an email, a note or a document.
2. Hold right ⌘ + right ⌥. A small pill appears on screen and a soft sound plays.
3. Speak naturally. Don’t worry about ums or restarts.
4. Let go. The pill shows that Herga is working, and the cleaned-up text appears in the field.

Try saying something messy on purpose:

“um so I think we should uh meet at three, no actually four, at the coffee place”

You should get:

I think we should meet at four at the coffee place.

Hands-free

For longer dictations, tap Space while you’re holding the chord, then let go. Herga keeps listening without dropping anything you’ve said. To finish, press the hands-free chord, right ⌘ + right ⌥ + Space. You can also start hands-free with that same chord.

Changed your mind?

Press Esc to cancel. This works while you’re speaking and while Herga is still working on the text, right up until the text starts going into your app.

Where did my text go?

Every dictation is saved in the Captures tab, with its audio, what Whisper heard and the cleaned-up text. If text didn’t land where you expected, you can copy it from there. See Captures and corrections.
